Lee Valley White Water Centre

Based in Waltham Abbey within Lee Valley Regional Park the Lee Valley White Water Centre offers Rafting and other White Water based sports. The Centre was the venue for the London 2012 Olympics Canoe Slalom event and now offers Canoeing, Kayaking, White Water Rafting and many other Water Sports.

What's available at The White Water Centre?

At Lee Valley White Water Centre, the water activities available include rafting, kayaking and canoeing. Those who prefer to stay with their feet firmly on the ground can opt for fishing, athletics or golf nearby within Lee Valley Park. Horse riding, ice skating and tennis are just a few more of the activities which are on offer near the centre within Lee Valley.
After an exhausting few hours of exciting sports and activities, visitors to Lee Valley Park can enjoy wandering around the nature trails and heritage sights. The Capel Manor Gardens consist of more than 30 acres of interesting and beautiful wildlife, so taking a picnic and enjoying a relaxing walk are definitely possibilities.

Sailing at Lee Valley

The sailing clubs at Lee Valley aren't exclusively for those with some boating experience. In fact, people of all ages and abilities are welcome to join in. Whether you've never been on the water before or you own your own boat, there's something for everyone.
New members are always welcome at Fishers Green Sailing Club, which is situated near the areas of Hertfordshire, London and Essex. Visit this club for some family-friendly fun or if you have a competitive streak when it comes to sailing.
The King George Sailing Club is open from May to September each year and is a hub of lively social activity. This club is located at Chingford, and offers sailing courses for newbies or those with little experience.
Broxbourne Sailing Club can be found in Nazeing, and this is a great place to visit no matter what the time of year. Food and drinks are available during the sailing season, and as long as the weather isn't too dangerous, you can take to the water and try out your sailing skills.

London 2012 Olympic Games

Lee Valley White Water Centre was built for the Canoeing event in the London 2012 Olympic Games, so visiting this centre will allow you to raft or canoe on the same waters that some of the Olympic champions took to during the games.
The centre was opened in 2010 by Princess Anne, and was available for the public to visit even before the games started. It was the only one of the London 2012 venues which the public could take advantage of before the Olympics, and it was reopened for use by the public after the games on September 8th 2012.

White Water Events and Courses

Throughout the year, there are several events held at the centre, such as races, competitions, BBQ's and there is a full bar on site. Spectators can enjoy some food and a drink whilst watching the water sports from various spectator points around the 300 metre course of rapids.
The centre caters for Corporate days and you can take the opportunity to celebrate birthdays or other special occasions with friends at the centre. With rafting and canoeing lessons available throughout the year, it's the perfect place to enjoy some beautiful scenery while brushing up on your sailing skills. You can also try something a little different like Hydrospeeding, or fun group activities such as Shipwrecked or Wipeout the game show style water based obstacle course.
